Abstract: In France, health organizations are being completely restructured and have become an emerging research subject. They can
be assimilated to “health care” and services production systems. The evaluation and improvement of their performance
constitute a priority but raise methodological difficulties. The classical management methods and tools used in health sector
require improvement and multidisciplinary approaches. This paper proposes an approach currently used in industrial sector
but unfamiliar in that of health organizations. It refers to a process modelling and a maturity model, CMMI. We describe the
concepts and applications achieved within two health organizations in order to analyze their feasibility and relevance. This
approach introduces an interesting perspective to self-evaluation and benchmarking in the health sector.
